When God Shows Up, Everything Changes
Scripture: Habakkuk 3:3–6
"God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens and His praise filled the earth." (Habakkuk 3:3)
Welcome to today's podcast. I want to encourage someone whose faith has been tested, whose prayers seem unanswered, and who may be wondering, "God, where are You?"
The prophet Habakkuk lived during a season of uncertainty. He looked around and saw violence, injustice, and suffering. Like many of us, he questioned God. But by chapter three, something had changed. Habakkuk stopped focusing on his problems and began focusing on God's power.
He declared, "God came."
Those two words carry tremendous hope. When God comes into a situation, darkness cannot remain. Fear must bow, AND FAITH ARISE. Confusion MUST give way to clarity. Despair is replaced by hope.
Verse 4 says, "His brightness was like the light; rays flashed from His hand, where His power was hidden."
Sometimes we think God is absent because we cannot immediately see Him working. But God's power is never diminished. He is often accomplishing His greatest work behind the scenes. Even when His hand seems hidden, His purpose is still unfolding.
Perhaps you've been praying for healing, waiting for a breakthrough, believing for a prodigal child, or trusting God to provide financially. Don't mistake God's silence for God's absence. The God who parted the Red Sea, shut the mouths of lions, raised the dead, and rolled away the stone is still the same God today.
Verses 5 and 6 remind us of His unmatched authority:
"He stood and measured the earth; He looked and shook the nations. The ancient mountains crumbled and the age-old hills collapsed—but He marches on forever."
Mountains represent obstacles—things that appear permanent, immovable, and impossible. Yet when God stands, mountains crumble. Nations tremble. Circumstances change. What has stood against you for years is no match for the everlasting God.
The obstacles in your life may seem unmovable, but they are temporary. God's power is eternal.
Notice that Habakkuk doesn't celebrate because his circumstances have already changed. He worships because he remembers who God is. Faith grows stronger when we remember God's faithfulness.
Today, instead of magnifying your problems, magnify your God. Instead of speaking defeat, declare His promises. Instead of allowing fear to dominate your thoughts, let faith arise in your heart.
The God who came for Habakkuk still comes to His people. He comes with mercy. He comes with power. He comes with healing. He comes with peace. He comes with salvation.
So lift your eyes above your circumstances and look to the One whose glory fills the heavens and whose praise fills the earth. Your situation does not have the final word—God does.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the everlasting God whose power never fails. When we are weak, remind us that You are strong. When fear tries to overwhelm us, increase our faith. Let every mountain before us be brought low by Your mighty hand. Fill our hearts with confidence, hope, and peace as we trust in You. We declare that You are still working, still moving, and still performing miracles. May our lives bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' mighty name we pray. Amen.
Remember today: When God shows up, everything changes. Trust Him, worship Him, and keep believing, because the everlasting God is marching on forever.
